Let’s Talk About Your Destiny

I am sure many of you have heard of Destiny, the new multi-platform game coming from Bungie (Creators of Halo). If not, I highly suggest you look it up. Now, I will not say this game is for everyone. In essence it is a shooter, but it also lingers in the RPG realm–much like Borderlands. Bungie is also throwing in a bit off MMO-type action. Now I, unfortunately, was not able to play the Alpha when it was out, but I did see some gameplay. My opinion–It looks AMAZING! Truly, even in the Alpha stage, what I saw seemed smooth, natural, and just awesome. So while I cannot really say much about this, having not played it myself, I will share what I know. You have three character class choices known as Guardians: the Titan, the Warlock, and the Hunter. The Titan is your tank class, well-armored with powerful weapons. The Warlock is a powerful magic user. Not only do you get guns but magic also. The Hunter is your stealth class, emanating a real cloak and dagger feel. Besides choosing a class you will be able to choose your race and customize the look of your character. It will actually have five or six game modes: Story, Explore, Strike, Crucible, and The Tower and Raids (?). The Story is a Solo campaign that can be played with a “Fireteam” of up to three players, yourself included. Explore mode allows free roam of the planets (Earth, Moon, Mars, Venus) to gather materials to upgrade weapons and armor, and this mode also allows you to take on quests for the City (the home base of civilization). Strike is comparable to a three-player dungeon raid. A Fireteam goes in to defeat a boss and gain loot. Crucible is a PVP mode and is going to be your normal FPS multiplayer, executed Destiny style. The Tower is a place to go and meet other players. This is a non-combat area where you walk around (in third-person, I believe). You can buy weapons and armor form vendors and also turn in quests. P2P (Player-to-Player) trading will be unavailable for now, but Bungie does intend on enabling it. You will, however, be able to trade among your own characters. Raids are still a bit of a mystery. All I know is that they consist of six players, and, if I had to guess, are very similar to Strikes, but with much stronger bosses. Other information that I can share is that Bungie wants the game to be social. They talked of enemies that would be challenging and even best taken on by a team. As I said earlier, many are comparing this to Borderlands and even Dark Souls due to the difficulty of some situations. I wish I had the time and knowledge to tell you more, but I do not as of right now. So I will give you some awesome links to check out in the sources!
